Allard Henry Gasque papers, 1920-1938.

Chiefly constitutent mail, 1928-1938, but also including bills and petitions. Collection reveals a great deal about life in South Carolina during the Great Depression, particularly re politics, elections, and appointments, including Gasque's opposition to the local Republican regime and his attempts to influence patronage, as well as his efforts to expand the Inland Waterway (now called Intracoastal Waterway) through his district in response to constituent complaints about flood devastation suffered by local farmers in the fall of 1928 and 1929.
